I would like to understand why you think it is better regardless of how much memory is in the PC? The only difference in the OS is how much memory it can address and some differences in the memory optimisation.

Don't get me wrong I find 64 great in my main rig but that is only because it really makes use of the 4 gig of RAM I have.

I'd be interested in the responses here as well, re 32 vs 64. I have two aging Skt 939 AMD mobos, one x64 and one x32. Unfortunately, both have single core CPU's, so the option is there to upgrade the CPU's to dual core. Wether I upgrade the x64 or the x32 remains to be seen. Dual core X64 skt 939's command a hefty premium, so I'm not sure if this is the right choice to get another year or so life before the next major rebuild/upgrade/replacement.

Both the skt939 mobos are AGP, DDR etc, and I have a Gigabyte HD4650 AGP, and 3gig DDR RAM, probably should get 4gb if I go the x64 route.

I 'm NOT expecting blistering framerates from the latest quad-core hungry games, but I do a bit of video editing, kids play some of the recent games, and just need an upgrade to tide over ...

i wouldnt bother trying to buy a new cpu.  see if you can pick one up on trademe either by itself, or in a mobo or whole computer.  for example: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Computers/Components/Motherboards/Asus/auction-249295329.htm

if in the unlikely event taht a CPU fails, you can always drop the old one back in...

Yip second that.. not work spending any real money on upgrading 939 PC.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

64, stuff those people who go on about "compatibility" this is not XP. Also you will know a retail copy contains both.

x64 showed to be more efficient then OSX Snow. Also >Pro comes with a virtual machine so you can run any program.. Even 8bit-16bit older dog apps easily, Linux apps.. and so on.

Or you could download a free virtual machine manager although it's very efficient.
