Hello people sorry about the wait but I'm in the UK and I didn't finish Installing until 5:00am here. I got windows xp to install with SP2 only to find it ended up in a continuous boot loop, kept loading to the XP screen with the moving bar the re-booting.

When i tried it in safemode it kept sticking at MUP.SYS and rebooting. So it was back to the drawing board. I decided I had got a little further with SP2 so using my trusty laptop I streamlined SP3 into my original XP pro disk using Nlite. Burnt the image to disc using IMGBURN and the rest as they say is history my cousin now has a working PC again once I have install the manufacturers drivers for sound, video etc.

All this so he can play football manager 2010.

Thanks again for your suggestions guys.

Mark

next time you come accross that error.

Try booting to your xp cd. hit the R button when it asks you to repair. it will take you to a repair console.

select your hard drive. type the following commands and enter after each one

fixboot

chkdsk /p /r

reboot the computer if it still does not work boot back into the repair console and try

fixmbr

if that still does not work

try a windows repair

oh yea often that message can be ram but doubt that in this case

Hu? did i do that?
