welcome to the real world! has there ever been anything in life where there is a clearcut 100% win win positive feedback? if i were you and i'm tight on cash i'd go with MSE. if i were you and i like to have a faster computer i'd go with MSE. if i were you and i never ever ever ever take a chance based on a couple of bad comments and are quite happy with norton then stick with NOD. does that help? (should i marry or should i not??? have kids???)
Imo Microsoft security essentials is great was running avast up in-till a few days ago backed with spy-bot and malware bytes seen a few people talking about it on here and decided to give it a try myself found it very easy to use fast responsive even picked up i had virus and fixed it and have found my computer running great i cant say that it will work great for everyone but its worked great for me also keeping malware bytes on there as a back up.
I have installed MSE on a few computers (it is way better IMO than AVG and even Avast), but I have had to take it off a couple of PCs as well.
What I have found is that if a computer is at the lower end of the available resources spectrum (ie. slow and not enough RAM), MSE will choke it to death. The MsMpEng.exe service chews up most of the system resources.
NOD32 doesn't have an issue on these same machines (neither, by the way, does NIS2010). McAfee and Trend - don't bother in these situations.
Bottom line, if you have a noce fast PC, MSE will work great, if not, stick with NOD32 (and use MBAM as well, get rid of Spybot and AdAware).
Funny you should mention that.. Just in the last week ive had 3 ancient machines have the dreaded MsMpEng.exe resource problem, however its not isolated to MSE, just having windows defender on the pc will cause the same problem.
