I have to agree, I've seen this type of comment a few times lately and I for one think that the people who make these comments need to pull their heads in. Sorry if we are not all english writing experts like yourselves. I think it was perfectly clear what the OP was asking about and these comments are not at all required.

I am sorry you have taken my comments as a form of personal attack, or view them as "trolling" That was not my intention at all.

I was only trying to correct a mis-statement from Nate1 regarding the title of this thread. I was not able to provide any more information (already been said) to this topic. I realise now that I should have just kept my comments to myself.

I was definately not trying to inflame any situation. I encourage people to correct me if i have made a mistake, that is how we all learn new things! (if you will note, i did not pick on any bad grammar or spelling, only the use of a term)

Far enough not liking the spelling but I don't need to here about it (it aint semaphores) point is Ive had a long few weeks including with the HDD upgrade yesterday almost 16 hours and the spelling of something that minor doesn't really matter whether I was upgrading a 2 or a 1.1 the fact is I was wondering why the 3 wasn't faster - yes 1.1 - 3 would be a concern. And yes I am an idiot for choosing a Sata3 drive over a SSD the person who recommended that option is due some critique however.

And Im sure if I had nothing better to do there would be plenty of things to pick on in peoples posts, code, hardware choices etc etc but in most cases would not be worthwhile or helpful its better to be blissfully unaware in many cases.

Nate1 - you appear to be mistaking some of the guys replies to each other within the thread as a direct reply to you and getting a little confused.

Some of the users have been replying to each others comments as apposed to your direct query. Hence the quoting sections.

IE..

Same Cache size. I will try one of the drives on the Sata2 to see if there is a difference.

Youve lost me? whats the same cache size (my two Sata2s) the sata 3has more than both together.

Here Hellonearthisman was replying to Bungs comment, and explain why his particular drives didn't differ :)

Just thought I'd clear it up.

Helps spot when it would appear people are commenting/attacking.. when they are talking amongst themselves

beg to differ. a true friends points out constructive criticism for the benefit of the other parties to learn and grow. of course to insult would be bad, but if a friendly comment offends then it will be difficult for one to have any real friends! (note: if you spelt fussion to answer a physics question you will be marked wrong - fusion or fission)

OK, not sure who Im replying to, allgood please don't spell check me I personally don't find it helpful to the discussion. Didn't mean to offend anyone - was looking for help with a hard disk.

Anywho, Yes MB (M4A87TD) supports Sata3 - seems to be slightly faster (bits closer together on the platter and the large disk cache) though loading a large number of servers (Apache, IIS, SQL, MYSQL) plus trying to load any software it seems to lag the system more than I like and more than my slower work PC, yes I could change it around and selectively load the software but thats annoying.

Someone suggested not turning my PC of so much - perhaps a bad habit not sure don't really like leaving things running - my setup a system over the network so it boots when I come home -whatever this is called.

Am thinking of putting one of the HDD (640GB) (C:\) the HDD into the lounge PC (ASUS M2nSLI - Deluxe - not sure if this is even Sata2) - the large disk (think the Disks in this are both 250GB - not sure what models but are old at most 1xSata2 1xSata) which could use some more space, and getting the momentus 500G (C:\) drive for my development PC (M4A87TD) so it starts faster, then put the TB drive as a drive for space.

Pretty much think I wasted money on this drive though can find a use for it.
Will get me at least a drive with some Solid State so the PC feels noticably faster and from what I understand make use of more of the Sata3 transfer speed (via RW?).
May be able to speed up my lounge PC by installing a larger drive.

what you need is an ocz vertex 3 SSD - that will make FULL use of your Sata 3 and your pc should boot in about 15 seconds and become fully responsive.

for comparison the max read speed in a spinning drive is say 90megaBYTes per second ... the max read and write speed in the vertex 3 is just under 600 megaBYTEs per second. and there is no latency (the spinning drive needs to get the read head to the spot before it can start the process ... solid state drives have no heads so near zero latency)

hint: google OCX vertex 3 and check out price on pricespy.co.nz

you only need a smallish drive eg 120GB max to store your program files (stuff that constantly is being read or written) and all the rubbish - i mean videos pics etc can go on the TB drive to be accessed when required

Even running two HDD's in an raid0 array will only give you an WEI score of 5.9 it really doesn't matter if your using SATA II or III HDD's nor does it matter what the cache size is or the RPM windows will only give you a maximum score of 5.9 because of the access times compared to SSD's it's kinda like driving an austin 7(HDD) to Wellington at 57KPh or flying an liar jet(SSD) at 850KPh yes you'll eventually get there just not as fast as the jet
