I'm this close to switching from onedrive for business to something else.
Maybe its how it was originally setup or something, but its a real dog, with many computers having strange and different errors & issues. Its a resource hog too.

Not the fault of SP3 though, just use another cloud storage.

I am finding One Drive great on multiple platforms. I access from IOS, Android, OS X and Windows.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I have read that some folks have experienced some odd issues using the Surface Pro through an external monitor, any here able to advise about that?

I had some weird scaling issues when using the display port off the dock sometimes, nothing that a reboot wouldnt fix though. Ended up plugging a lenovo usb dock into the surface dock and running two external dvi displays off it and it worked a treat. Also had the surface display running at same time so 3 displays in all. In "desktop" mode it actually worked really well.

changing the DPI on Windows 8 requires a logoff/logon, you don't need a reboot

USB DisplayLink based solutions are suboptimal as they use the CPU instead of GPU, but yes less hassle than having to plug 2 things into Surface when docking, the dock itself and another mDP adapter into the side of Surface Pro 3 itself

Personally I use DP1.2 monitors with MST Daisy Chaining so I can run 3 externals through 1 Display Port cable

I bought a SP3 i7 256GB a couple of weeks ago. I'm going motorbike touring in Europe this (NZ) winter, so I can't carry a laptop to keep things ticking over, and the iPad just doesn't cut it for multiple document handling and email filing - for that I need a PC.
So it was to be a laptop replacement while travelling, but first surprise, I haven't opened my iPad since I got the SP3. It's a great tablet, better for reading books and magazines (and really anything) than the iPad, and not too heavy for this. Plus the Mail app is great for when I can't be bothered opening Outlook and getting right into things. So far there are only two things that matter that I can do on the iPad but not the SP3 - signing PDF documents with PDF Expert, and scanning on the fly with ScannerPro. But I can do these both with my iPhone, so I don't need an iPad any more. I'm still playing with formats to rip DVD's into for travelling, I usually take a couple of DVD's worth of Breaking Bad or something similar, but the 1920x1080 format that I use for the iPad seems to give a pretty good result.
So, will the SP3 now replace my laptop when I'm at work ? Yes, it will. I normally run a laptop plus two monitors at work, so with the docking station I can do this, my plan is to keep the SP3 screen in tablet mode and run desktop on the external monitors. And as another poster has pointed out, I won't have the laptop keyboard taking up desk real estate (I use an external keyboard). I've bought the docking station, just need some time to get it all going. I also run two home offices with single external monitors, two more docking stations would be nice but too expensive, so I'll just plug stuff in as I need it, I've got a USB 3.0 hub I can just carry around with me.
I see the comments about OneDrive, I just hate that thing, I've used DropBox for years and it works great for me. Of course it gives me automatic backup while I'm travelling too.
Cost-wise, my full setup will be about the same as a good ultrabook and iPad, so it's cost-neutral (I can pass on the ultrabook and iPad to other staff, as a tech-savvy boss I always have the best hardware so they'll be happy to have it), but for convenience it will be streets ahead.
And I like the keyboard cover.
Just my two-pennies' worth.

FYI its OneDrive for Business the complaints were about, not OneDrive.  OneDrive is great (!)
