lots of options.

check the file size to see what you are moving.

outlook express is probably 10 years ago for me. from memory I think  size  is  in properties.  may well be bigger than your 2GB drive capacity ?

I use one drive but not sure about data costs etc for cloud etc.

you need spx files for windows 10.

search on google for

dbx repair

dbx to spx conversion.

converting to Thunderbird is my option  but may be others to consider.

Okay things are slowly coming together, which is good. However I seem to have inadvertently associated .cfg files with an application and want to un-associate them. Can this be done? Do I need to uninstall the application (and reinstall it)?

right click a cfg file, choose open with, more option <i think> then select what program you want to open with, and have the tick box "always open with this" ticked. or something close that - sorry my windows 10 pc currently turned off

I know how to do that part - but it's a .cfg file and it's not meant to be associated with any application, right? I'm looking to un-associate it from an application.

yitz: Try: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/unassociate-file-types-windows-7-vista/

The app didn't work in 10, but the fix described on the page worked a treat. Thanks so much!

Last one (for now, I think):
I used MozBackup to copy everything Mozilla-related over from the XP machine to the 10 machine. Most things copied over, but my logins did not, despite me selecting the option to copy them over.

I took a copy of the actual password file and copied it to the install directory on the new machine but to no avail - no passwords were copied over. I can't seen an option to manually import them either.
Anyone got any ideas for this one, or do I need to enter them all manually in again (I hope not)?

use a proper multi platform password manager instead of a browser one :)

I use sync option in tools to sync between laptop and desktop. This does passwords. they are both using 59.0.2. Your xp PC is probably using 52.0. Have you tried it?

if you are using a password manager the save password in firefox will be unticked as I doubt that encrypted passwords would be kept in multiple places so nothing would be transferred by the mozilla transfer tool due to  nothing saved other than in  your password manager.

Not aware of a simple solution.
