bradstewart:
DanDotNet: Has anyone ran into issues using the download manager in this build?

if yes, has this been resolved in build 5342 (brad)?

I cant get the download manager to open for some reason when I click "save target as"...etc

Also, even when I installed DAP it sometimes fails to load.

The microsoft download manager works just fine for me, havent tried using DAP or similar yet.

Quite gutting that we will not be able to upgrade to B2 as i've been using 5342 as my main OS but set all my docs to the ones i use in my XP install on other partition so dont have to worry bout losing anything that way, but will we be able to use the USMT to transfer settings onto a new install?

If you're allowed to nathan.... what is 5366 like compared to 5342? EDIT: i've only been told in very general terms so far

I can't go through all the details yet, but the one that you will notice is perf, massive improvement with WDS3 and the MSSearch service, SuperFetch etc

You will be able to see for yourself soon, we are trying to update the 5342 EDW build with a new one

5355 should be out next week (again only x86fre and x64fre versions of Windows Vista Ultimate in English are being targeted)

Cheers
Nathan

Sounds good, but i cant download evry build :-( hurts my bandwidth too much.

If anyone who downloaded it was able to put it on dvd and post it to me, i would pay them a bit for it and return the dvd of course.

Cool, any idea on how far Beta 2 is? Or is 5355 beta 2?

Will wait for that build then.

Brad

PM or email me your physical address and I will post you a DVD
Note I am on holiday overseas for 2 weeks from tomorrow, so it won't be until the day after Easter that you get it in the courier :)

5355 is *a* beta2 build, but it is not *the* beta2

Beta2 is still a little while away, but it will be in the 1st half of this year

Cool, I was confused about that for a moment, thanks for the clarification.

5342 release was scrapped for various reasons, but 5365 was just published up onto the beta portal at connect.microsoft.com today

There have been a few posts in the press about it

Enjoy, I'm now happily XP free in my life, all my machines work and home converted over from XP to Vista :)

Power Quoting
The winner will have made the longest continual quotation with the shortest vaguely pertinent reply. The current world record is 382 lines of quotes with a five word reply.

Hi team, great topic, but the quoting is getting to be too much. Please keep quoting to a minimum.

In general, if you quote more than you add, you are overquoting. You can edit quote lengths (cut stuff out), but try not to alter the context of the quote.

Im getting tempted to ask for a copy of the Vista build to have a play...

Have a nice night!

Each build is getter way bigger than the last.

5365 is 3.1Gb, a big too big for downloading when you only 10 Gb a month Frown
