Yes but times have changed I believe. Those were quite some time back.

It's funny how you can see all of the finger prints right at the end!

My biggest use for the start menu was search. I would type whatever I wanted and it was usually presented in the results. Files, control panel, apps. Worked great.
Now I type what I want, and if it isn't an app I have to click on files or settings to get the results page. With the full screen start menu I expected more results not less.
Why make it harder to search for files or control panel functions?

+10 it's most annoying for a keyboard jockey on a desktop - why does no one else mention this? Does anyone have a workaround?!
Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Like what?
I haven't come across anything that the search doesn't find automatically as I am typing it in.

Maybe there is a setting or I'm not doing it right?
Step one - press windows key
Step Two - type search term
Result:
Win7 - Top Results show in sections - Programs, Control Panel, Documents, Outlook, Files. The vast majority of the time what I want is there for me to click on
Win8 - I only get app results. The vast majority of the time I have to click settings or files to get the results I want
I am struggling to think why this would have changed given the increase in screen real estate available for displaying more, not less, results. I also would've thought that this was something a large number of users do multiple times per day.
So I hope it is just something I am missing.... because it is difficult to understand the reason for the change.
