Hmm, saw the notification in the updates area and thought I'd give it a crack this morning. 4 cycles of downloading followed by prepping to install and then getting the 'your computer is ready to update' which just results in, you guessed it, downloading the update again... wah wah.

My bet is it doesn't reset your file associations. These things were bugs, they were always bugs and we believed we fixed them all. If not let us know, they are bugs and we will fix them.
Yes we uninstall incompatible software and try to reinstall compatible versions. Possibly choose to use an AV vendor that is modern.
why not just leave peoples stuff alone and don't uninstall anything just give us a polite warning that it may not work and may need updating if that's the case but please do not uninstall my stuff as that is not your problem when going from 1511 to 1607 MS uninstalled a whole bunch of stuff that guess what works perfectly fine under 1607 SO I then had to reinstall it all over again
Can you recall what uninstalled?
here you go
CPUID CPU-Z 1.76
CPUID ROG CPU-Z 1.77 CPUID, Inc. 1.77
FAHClient Stanford University 7.4.15
Logitech Gaming Software 8.83 Logitech Inc. 8.83.85
Nexus Mod Manager Black Tree Gaming 0.63.9
Opera Stable 41.0.2353.69 Opera Software 41.0.2353.69
PeaZip 5.7.2 (WIN64) Giorgio Tani
PeaZip configuration (WIN64) Giorgio Tani
All of the above worked perfectly fine before and after the update as I had to reinstall them
nathan: This was upgrading to 1607? From 1511 or 1507?
1511 to 1607 it also made all my games crapped themselves aswell had to reinstall them too as they couldn't find the save files which are all saved on a second HDD along with docs, pics , music etc etc
Updated a notebook and Desktop via Media Creation Tool 3 days ago. Both went without a hitch. 'Insider' desktop fine as well.
I Should Have known better but I tried the update, result - not successful and all of my Storage spaces and the drives that were on them have disappeared (Goodbye to 14TB of data and my file history). Luckily my most important data is on a physical drive rather than a storage space but arrrggghh!!!! I have spend 6 hours on chat (with 7 different MS support staff) and now have a scheduled call with L2 support tomorrow. My advice is be weary for now!.

After installing KB4015438 last week, on the next boot internal NON BOOT drive had errors.
Dirty bit was set.
"Recycle Bin Corrupted"...
55Gb of folders and files disappeared...
Data was still there, presuming broken file handles or something similar.
Luckily a data recovery program could see and recover the files...
Found a note yesterday that the ISO will be released to VLSC around May; gives me a few weeks to organise myself for some testing

yes I am sure the data is still there. But disk management in windows cannot even see the drives that the storage space uses. (the physical drives are still seen by device manager). We will see what MS come back with tonight.

I'd be very keen to see what the outcome of this is, and what they believe the cause was. I'd have to say that in my experience, data loss issues is rare in Windows, but QA isn't as good as it once was and there seems to be confusion in the UI department as to the meaning of "efficiency" is.

Outcome so far is no outcome. Spent 4hrs online with MS L2 support, but no answers yet. They don't seem to even no how to diagnose and or validate a storage space. They so far have run testdisk (third party tool) on one drive in the SS. I don't think this has told them anything of any significance. It just astounds me that MS release such a fundamental tech as Storage Spaces without developing and tools to support it. Heaven help them if this is not just a one off but impacts even 1% of their users when Creators edition goes on general release.

Sounds to me, like you don't have the appropriate level of support currently servicing your request. I'd ask to speak to the on duty manager, explain the situation, and what progress has been made to date, and then see what they can offer.
