Win 10 has no windows media centre which is a biggie if you use xbox as a media extender and dont want a alternative device.

While my smart tv can access pc based media it doesnt look as good or is as easy to use

yes, here www.microsoft.com/windows10

read that, not hugely convincing

no worries, no ones forcing you to upgrade to Windows 10 if you think there is no value your Windows 7 machine doesn't blow up.

But just remember Windows 7 was released in 2009, it was designed 3 years before that and it is already out of mainstream support and extended support will end in 2019

Only appeared on my wife's 4 week old Win8.1 laptop.  I'll upgrade it but not until after  it's been out there for a month..

By July 29 it will have already been out there for many months.

As for Media Centre, there is alternatives built into Windows 10, I had no issues sharing media with my Xbox One

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I switched from WMC to Kodi for playing media from a netbook. Works really well for me. Even corrected the TV overscan problem! Works well in win 10, too.

apologies I wasn't clear enough,  I do that bad habit, anyway what I was trying to say was that the following on from what I have seen over the last few months of Insider testing the
final release candidate for Windows 10 should be a very good release.

What i want to know is, will i benefit at all from an update to windows 10? is it worth it?

I agree with you.  This last release was very good. Just testing Office 2016 now.   Doesn't look really much different to Office 2013
