this is how to check if it's finished downloading
http://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3ewa8r/psa_here_is_how_to_check_if_windows_10_is/

and DO NOT run the install.exe

Download esd-decrytor-wimlib-4

copy install.esd (2.7GB) from $Windows.~bt\sources into decrytr directory

run decrypt command and select 1.

When ISO is built extract (with 7zip) and run setup.exe

Windows will upgrade and be activated. Job done.

Or just wait until it is finished and does its own stuff - instead of risking breaking your install.

or that :-)

I have had no troubles doing this for multiple machines at home. Mainly because with WHS the connector doesn't like the Microsoft Account required to stay in the insider program and receive updates. The install.esd file is the is just an encrypted image file.

I would say that most of the rtm images out there have been made that way.

I have read on Reddit that trying to run setup.exe could cause your install to break. Maybe wait until it is ready and you get the notice.

How many people have run Setup? And if so, did any files get deleted?

My desktop is stuck at 5.97GB right now, so looks like it hasn't deleted anything. My laptop is at 4.02GB, but I didn't run it on there.

I did not have the BT folder at all. Just went into the console and entered "wuauclt.exe /updatenow" and it started the download right away.

Not working for me at all!

Two computers, with Win 8.1 Pro.

Windows update is saying installing update every 20 minutes or so, with (Failed).

I have the BT folder, with numerous sub folders, but no large (GB) files.

Windows Update log has the following recurring error:
