semigeek: Just out of interest, if I upgrade, will I lose my current programs and settings? I am currently using Vista,  but don't really want to lose a lot of my software as most of it came from Giveaway of the day.

Hmmm I'm not too sure about Vista. I know that if you upgrade from Windows 7 it keeps all your files and programmes, sorry apps.

Why on earth are legacy programs being called apps anyway?

I'll probably drop by HN. Will also be at the Windows 8 launch event Microsoft are holding for media in the morning. I'm curious if anyone would be interesting in attending that event in a virtual sense if we were to run a live video stream of it?

Quick dumb question, if you pre order from HN, can you just stroll up and pick it up tonight or wait until they contact you like the email confirmation says?

not bad. only $50 to download it vs $90 to get it shipped or buy in store

(any risks with a download to be aware of, like not having a backup CD or something?)
