Hi,

Just wondering if it is possible to setup an email server, like Outlook exchange. I use Thunderbird connected to multiple POP accounts on Windows 7, and have a file server running Ubuntu.

I would like to have all emails downloaded, and accessible from any PC on the network. Ideally I would like to also be able to access the emails outside of the home network when I'm travelling, but I believe this may be a bit far fetched?

I also want to setup a login at startup on the windows systems, connecting you to your shared drives on the ubunutu system etc, but once again this may be a bit far fetched.

My knowledge of linux is limited, so any help would be appreciated.

Minimally, you will need to run an imap server - such as courier-imap
And a mail fetcher to grab the POP mail and deliver it to a Maildir - such as getmail

Once you have an imap server running with account(s) setup, and a mail fetcher grabbing from the pops and dropping into the maildirs of the imap server, then you just point your favourite imap client(s) at your imap server.
