HI all to the wonderful world of crazy engineers...

Does any one know if solidworks will run on any form of linux...Matlab works and free software for everything else I need... but can't find anything on solidworks for linux.

Running Ubuntu 7.10 and xp in dual boot on a Hp DV6522tx laptop.

Sorry to say, but ther is Matlab and Maple - both work really nicely on Linux. As for Solidworks, its a Windows only application unfortunately. My brother is a engineering student and basically for him, it was better for him to use the university computers anyway since they have massive screens and faster processors.

Oh, and I've tried to run it under wine - it doesn't work unfortunately :(

Sadly, my laptop is faster than the uni CAD computers...

Ah, you're lucky then :D

Then again, this 2.4Ghz laptop is pretty fast - always surprised how technology keeps moving forward at break neck speed.
