Not to be deterred I used its WUBI to install it and as Foobar predicted....its not nearly enough. im gonna put xununtu on it tonight, but is there an easy way to uninstall ubuntu?
I don't have personal experience with WUBI, but it's my undestanding that if you run it via WUBI then it's just a Windows application you can uninstall, like any other application, right?
absolutely. I just ran the uninstall from add/remove programs and it disappeared........what surprised me the most is that it took about 15sec to get rid of it..........a far cry from the half hour+ installing it.
edit: I have noticed on both computers (my server and an old one that dad brought home from work) that even with the computer idling @ desktop with system monitor running in another workspace that the processor is running at full. does anyone know why?? I like to keep my computer running all day-but if its going flat out all the time......

if linux, drop into shell (command prompt) and use the command 'top', that'll tell you whats hogging your processor.
Ce[n[tOS is... an enterprise level OS (It is RedHat stripped of all mention of RedHat). It is stable and scalable and all other things enterprise. For a desktop OS it is a pain, I find, as the uptake of new drivers (read: 3D hardware acceleration drivers) into the latest kernel is very slow. this is by design as CentOS is not cutting edge. I use Fedora, this is the OS that Redhat test new features and work out the bugs... the best of bread from Fedora ends up in Redhat. SO... try fedora if your looking for a desktop OS else if looking for a server OS then do go CentOS... then you can say you have redhat expereince ;)
As far as I know (but I might be wrong here) Centos is identical copy of RedHat Linux just rebranded with Centos Logo
" Fedora-core is a community supported distro on which later red hat distro's are based on. Fedora core is therefore a testing base and can use unstable things which would not be used in the official redhat versions. Fedora-core is free and you don't get official support from redhat.
Red hat enterprise is The linux version from redhat which you buy and therefore get official support. It is the version that is used in businesses as it is stable.
CentOS is a copy of redhat, but free. It is maintained not by the company redhat but by others. This Would be the version you'd want if you need a stable enterprise grade linux but don't want the costs. Yes... but more than just the logo, it is code source and anything else that has the word 'redhat'. (there are slip ups of course) It is not a secret to anyone, nor kept as such. Just the way open source works.
Redhat will not support a install of centOS, obviously. For support you must purchase Redhat... which I would be doing if running an OS supporting some BI app that handles $$
