I would highly reccomend Debian. I don't have much experience with Linux but was able to install Debian on an old computer in about an hour.

Plus if you are on Cable you can network install off debian.paradise.net.nz, which isn't counted as traffic! Thats what I did, stuff downloading CDs!

The only major changes I did after install, was upgrade to latest kernel - very safe so I'd reccomend it for most of the new programs that want it. I then installed squid and ad-zapper so my XP machine would get its ads filtered. Leave it running 24/7 with no problems. Also pretty easy to install nvidia drivers if Google it properly.

I'd love to do everything on Debian. But to pass this CISCO CTC I will need to config everything to work on RH7.2 as the final exam is going to be all about RH7.2 so I have no choice Cry

I have done smb server on Debian and it works no problem. But having problem with RH7.2

I also manage to score more tutorial on RH7.2 I hope it will help me getting somewhere.

We'll never be too old to learn, and we learn at least one new thing every day.
