We've got a macbook pro and a friend has sent us a file through the e-mail and it's a 'winmail.dat' file - it comes up asking me what application I want to use to open it.... we just can't get the file to open at all

any suggestions how to open a winmail.dat file in a macbook pro?

I get them from my wife at work sometimes, it's a weird outlook thing. I just resend them, but on that link (lmgtfy is funny) there are many solutions, the top two hits especially.

thanks there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do it - might have to download ($$) a winmail viewer
if I forward it to my work computer that is windows and has outlook - will I be able to open it there?

thanks I tried that but it didn't work - I uploaded the file and in seconds it was ready but when I saved it and went to open it it still came up asking me what application I wanted to use to open it

I got a megabyte winmail.dat last week from my wife that apparently had a pdf in it. I just asked her to resend.

When I used to use quickbooks to send PDF invoices some people would get them as a winmail.dat file instead of PDF - since then we've changed to xero.

The only fix we found was to create the PDF in CutePDF then attach and email - it worked that way.
