G'day,

I just got a MacBook and am trying to get my Blackberry 8310 to dial into the vodafone for internet access while I'm out of Auckland.
I put in the *99# but can't seem to get it to hook up. I have set all the bits and pieces up on the Mac so that it tries to pair, but fails.

Is there any special script I need for Vodafone here?

Clear all your settings off and try again - new pairing, enter all the required settings in.

I had trouble with my Macbook using 3G over Bluetooth, but I think I was overcomplicating it somewhere. I will check my settings tonight and let you know.

In the end, it just seemed so simple!

Another thing I think is funny is the iphone doesn't tether as a modem! Aye?
Hope it does with the next release.

I am gagging for a 3G iphone with exchange ability, oh boy.

I used to use the mobile phone scripts from http://www.taniwha.org.uk/ on my MacBook (v10.4 at the time) and my Windows mobile 5 device (ASuS 1210 / Vodafone 1210). Whilst it used to work, it also used to have many, many issues just to get connected (and then occasionally to stay connected)

Of course, given windows mobile 6, it's now possible to utilise the Internet Connection Sharing within the OS via Bluetooth on the MacBook to make this an actually painless experience. And for Exchange ability, WM / Activesync seeems to be the best.

Hope that provides some insight. (I've got a MacBook, Vodafone 1210 w/ WM6, HTC TyTN II w/ WM6) - they all work quite nicely together.

Did you have an APN set (www.vodafone.net.nz) I use this when connecting via Express card, however for older Bluetooth connection on a JasJam used to use the taniwha.org.uk script with the number *99***1# and worked most of time (odd connection issue more related to Bluetooth)
