an auction on trademe. can someone tell me what may be the cause. Its fine opening the site but as soon as I go into an actual auction it shuts down.

Do you have any further details. What version of Safari and OS X, do you have any plugins installed?

Exact same thing happened to me, I just download Camino, great web browser and uses a lot less resources so it's great for slower systems.
