I have a Leopard Macbook, and an OKTA Touch.
I successfully use Internet Connection Sharing on the OKTA to connect to the internet over bluetooth.

At the moment, I have to manually activate internet connection sharing on the OKTA, and select Networking for the OKTA in the Leopard bluetooth GUI.

Is there anyway to completely automate this?

I.e. the Macbook whenever its on, automatically kicks off a connection on the OKTA?

You could probably automate it with Applescript / Automator, they're surprisingly simple to use.

Yeah, I have not explored either yet, though I am aware of them. Bit scared that once I start, I will never stop lol.

Applescript is great. Not far off english "tell program safari to open "www.google.co.nz"" or syntax to that effect :)

Automating it on the Okta would necessitate leaving Bluetooth on all the time, possibly in discovery mode (if needed by ICS, don't think it is though) which would a) be a bad move and b) significantly reduce the battery life.

Have a look for an app called "proximity", it'll keep polling the bluetooth every x seconds to see if a given device is in range and if so perform given functions. That'd deal with the connection side of things, I suspect you would have to script enabling the sharing in OSX if it's turning itself off though.

I went to the previous concert and had my ltd. edition copy of Believe with the big (heavy) metal logo on the CD cover signed by them all :)
