I've finally got the time to migrate my MBP back from a Bootcamp setup to an OSXLion install and have run into some troubles.

My networked printer from a windows 7 machine seems to connect fine but won't print. I've tried all sorts of things seen on google but nothing seems to work, or the workarounds are all old.

I have another fileserver which runs Windows 7 and I can connect to the shares, sort of. Some of the folders in the share are missing from view. Most are there but some aren't. I don't know if its an issue of cached information or what? Google doesn't seem to have a lot on this issue.

I'm sure there was something else too so will ask that when I can remember.

Cheers.

Re: part 1, it sounds odd, I have found that if I want to wirelessly print it sets up the printer twice (wired and wireless), and depending on which one you print to, is whether it will work or not (doesn't tell you which is which). Apple now do their own drivers so it may be an issue there although I understand that they are CUPS compliant so better in theory. I can only suggest that you delete the driver and try again. Be interesting to know if it works plugged in directly.

Re: part 2, probably depends on the sharing options you set on the folders in Win 7. The mac will only see what it is allowed to. Also check how you are connecting to the Windows server. I use samba to connect to mine, you can choose to connect with a username and password, this might assist.

Have you tried on OS X going into Boot Camp Assistant and re-downloading the drivers?

I'm no longer using bootcamp, I would consider myself a Windows power user but a OSX noob. I am now only using OSX Lion on the laptop but have Windows 7 on the server and HTPC.

I'm using samba shares for my connections and am logging in using the primary administrator login details.

I will try the printer directly connected to the laptop later. I've downloaded the latest Canon drivers so will try cups to remove and add a new printer. I thought the printer troubles might be to do with privileges but when I add them to the connection through cups it just sits there sending to the printer but nothing happens. I waited half an hour for a test page to print with no luck.

As it turns out there was two different drivers for my printer. I was using the generic one, it needed to be more specific. So that's one success.

I've got partial success on the file front too. Although I still cannot see the folders in finder, I can use the 'go to folder' menu and open the folder that way. It won't appear in the root window but I can see the contents. My only problem now is that I have no idea how many folders are missing. The numbers of folders regularly fluctuate so I can't just find it out once and figure out which folders are missing. Not to mention the fact that that would suck.
