Shame, I thought it was pretty good to be honest especially if you didn't need to do high performance gaming on it.

Its 4yo? I inherited a late 2007 iMac, I was keen as. 2.0Ghx Intel Core 2 duo, 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD

It boots up smartly, runs quite well. I changed the RAM to 4GB, it now has Mavericks.

What warranty or expectations do you have for a Windows desktop of this era?

Nice display, 1TB HDD, I say go for it

There is a 'returning soon' tag on that item. If you do get one, pay by credit card in case there are any really serious issues with the product or any required service. You can easily get a chargeback down the track if they do not live up to the offer or service for some reason.

Easily get a chargeback? Not outside the chargeback period and I'm sure 90 days express warranty exceeds the chargeback time frame anyway.

As stated above there should be some protection under the law (CGA) anyway. The biggest problem with iMacs is that any problem that develops Apple will tell you that you need a new logic board because they don't do component level repairs. This would cost over $1000 to repair essentially if "anything" went wrong.

But I find iMacs generally very reliable.

Also Yes Shop is trying to make a name for itself and hopefully wants to impress with customer service (but who knows).

Yes I think you could be right there.

http://www.consumer.org.nz/reports/credit-card-chargebacks.

But it's still better protection than paying by cash or other means.

I'd put everything on the credit card regardless. So should everyone unless you don't pay the balance off in full monthly and have no self control.
