That's an interesting one. I have a watch 4 with the unlock feature enabled on a 2018 MBP, and UBNT APs, and haven't experienced this issue. Is it specific to MB Air?

Not sure - I have the Apple Watch 3 however. I think it is related to having a 5GHz only network (which I do).
