Well i'd like them to be accessible to the Mac as i'd like to try out some Mac software on them. My main concern isn't large files, it's small ones but it'd just be nice to be able to migrate between OS's seamlessly.

Migrate means you moved on from one, otherwise you would just be switching back and forth between OSes, and that's just 'sharing' the common files.

Semantics as far as i'm concerned. Either way i'll be using both Windows 7 and MacOSX on probably a daily basis and was hoping to be able to do less swapping between OS's by having a central repository on the laptop where i can read and write files written by both OS's easily.

Seems simple right? Doesn't seem to be as simple as i would have hoped. Oh well.

It can be that simple if you don't need direct/fulltime access to those monstrous files!!!

If you want Read and Write to NTFS, then you could use http://whine.fr/2010/slntfs-2-0-0-out/

It works well for me.

Though, the other suggestions are probably better, and more developed.

Im curious.. are you able to write to a NTFS drive that hasnt been 'Safely Removed' from a windows computer?

Im finding, that using the built-in driver in SL, that if you do not safely remove the drive from the windows computer, you will be able to read but not write to the drive on a Mac. so you have to move the drive back to a windows computer, safely remove it, then move back to the mac.. a PITA really.

Might invest in purchasing the driver if it solves this basic issue.
