i know am taking it slightly bit off track , but within the same topic >

we need a thread with honest reliable mechanics - which geekzoner's have dealt with in Auckland (and possibly other cities ) , how they found them , something sort of a review so that it helps everybody out here.

T M Automotive in Howe St are who I usually use. Have also had positive dealings with the one opp New World. K G Mcleod have a really good rep but are quite out of the way up in Waverley.

Brendon Motors in Taranaki St, Wellington - Honest, well priced & friendly. Never had an issue with their work.

Richards motorcycles in Johnsonville if you're of the 2-wheeled persuasion, he's a good mechanic.

Wellington is probably a bit to far to go for the OP

Previous post suggested listing alternatives elsewhere, so I did.

In Auckland definitely I would suggest Wills Automotive - The only reason I went there was because they have the domain name of one of the companies who continuously caused issues with my car.

Apart from that, they answered the phone at 8:30PM on a Saturday night and booked me in for 6:45AM on a Monday morning, fixed a really difficult problem with my Subaru (boxer engine) within 2 hours and haven't had issues since - Plus they charged me very reasonably.

One place not to go (these guys lied, broke cars, overcharged and just generally don't seem to know what they are doing) is Birkenhead Car Repairs on the shore.

Back to an answer that's useful to the OP.

McLeods are the way to go. I recently took my Legacy there for a service and to get a couple of sensor's replaced. They found it to be a bigger job than expected since one of the sensor's had fused itself into the manifold. They didn't charge for the extra labour time and even took it for drive and found it wasn't running quite like it could be so they gave it a bit of a tune up and adjusted the turbos slightly for no charge.

Have had a lot of work done by them over the years, they are very good at what they do and I have heard nothing but good things about them from other people.

Worth checking them out.
