I got a new job.. part of a job I currently am on, to sell a network system over telephone. I'm okay with face-to-face selling but never done it over a phone. Please anyone, any tips or suggestion??

Hopefully your employer will provide you with some decent training on this.

When I was doing phone sales, the technique that I was taught was to focus on establishing the customer's needs first and foremost and try to avoid talking about specific products and costs during the intial phone call. Based on the information taken from the first phone call, we would then send out a professional proposal, then make contact with the customer again to sell the solution.

Always remember that it's hard to judge how busy people are when you contact them by phone, so if you get the feeling that they don't have time to talk, arrange another time to call and make sure that you comitt to it.
