The ring part. I have several small ones interconnected at the moment, but things keep getting tangled on it. And sometimes they get so tangled that they start to undo. I have now lost my PO Box key and only have the spare, and those ones are bloody expensive to get cut.

So any pointers on a keyring that can deal with 25 or so keys easily? Probably about 50-60mm diameter? Bunnings, mitre10 and a lock shop I went to were no help.

Nothing usefull for big keyring came up, their search is totally useless tho, might ebay something

Sort your keys onto different normal keyrings (for each location/usage/etc) and then stick them onto a carabiner.

Thats what I have, but one key will go thru the middle of another, and then pull the ring open as it twists, meaning that keys will get into the gap between the split ring and work their way around. Its worse with keys with big holes in the end as they seem to move much easier around the ring.

Less keys? I went through this about 18 months ago and realised a number of keys I was carrying got used every 2-3 months. I decided that I could leave a set at home which might be needed vs my every day.

I can confirm that it's possible to get such a thing (I've seen one) but unfortunately I have no idea where to get one. Hopefully just knowing that they exist will lend extra weight to your search :)

Edit: After thinking about *where* I've seen one, I've found it in my junk pile! If you want, I can post it to you (it's 55 mm across).

A carabiner is a good solution. Divide your keys into relevant sub groups and put groups onto the carabiner.

Why not do the carabina idea, but instead of using standard keyrings to hold the keys to it, use very small diameter keyrings on each key that allow you to loop them onto the carabina.

I personal get my keys cut in different colours. (they are colour coated)

It its much easier to know what keys go where. Especially house keys they all look the same to me!

But yeah the above idea is good to.

It's a good idea to have a tag with your first name and a contact phone number on it. The police have tonnes of keys they can't return to anyone because there's no identification.

Just put your address on it! Then whoever finds it can just post it back to you!

I am kidding by the way. There is a service which gives you tags and the keys can just be dropped into any post box, with the added benefit that Joe Public can't find out your personal details : http://www.armstrong.co.nz/KeyRetriever.php

The excess weight of many keys is not good for the cars ignition. Just saying.

I thought the same. There's only one car key and the remote control in the key ring we use for the car. Anything else is excess weight on the ignition.
