Since yesterday afternoon, we have had at least seven power outages. There may have been more while I was asleep or out.

The shortest lasted only a couple of seconds while the longest was a few minutes.

Seriously annoying.

Anyone with any ideas as to what is going on?

I lived in Bayview for 5 years and power outages were reasonably common - theres a power transformer thing (had no sleep..brain not functioning) in Bonito Place that use to blow in spectacular fashion taking out half the suburb.

Perhaps your power company might know...

Cheers - N

We have the same issue in Triton Dr in Mairangi Bay. The Apollo business park was delivered by the developer with a power infrastructure that isn't sufficient to support the demand. So twice each year something either melts down, explodes (literally - I have photos) or catches fire.

The transformers were too small, but they were limited by the size of cable that had been installed. They have had to re-cable the whole area.

Just one more "Cheap Development"™  Auckland-style

These are the people who want have development levies reduced so homes will be affordable.

You know they won't be more affordable.

You just know.

This is why you should have UPSes on everything!

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Didn't notice anything myself, Been using vast amounts of electronics the entire time and I'm just over the other side of Glenfield road to you, Perhaps there is work going on in your area.

I will note however I do get some very strange power fluctuations in the house I'm currently in although I suspect it may be the wiring its self and the power very rarely goes out all together, Old rental houses...

Mrs used to live in Bayview (Spinella Dr and Manuka Rd) and both places had power failures at night on several occasions. Haven't had any since moving to Albany *touch wood*

The power company had no knowledge of a fault.

Eventually, it went off and did not come back.

I looked outside at my smart meter and it was clearly seeing power but the lcd display was going berserk flashing up all kinds of things that look like error codes. (F30000 and F00010 for example) By a process of elimination, I worked out that it was the washing machine. Even though it was turned off, it was upsetting the meter.

Washing machine unplugged and all is well.
