Twice in the past couple of weeks my car radio has spontaneously switched inputs (from USB or Bluetooth) and jumped straight to the Newstalk ZB channel. Now, either my car radio has suddenly developed extreme right-wing tendencies, or someone is doing something odd with the emergency broadcast signal that RDS-capabable radios support in order to enable them to do exactly this.

It's behaved for the past 6 months, maybe some CD post-quake testing?

I don't have this station in the head-unit's memory, and it's a UK-sourced Alpine (as local models didn't have the ISO connector I needed). It's pretty wierd. Any ideas or other folks that have come across this?

Have you reset the unit to all default/factory settings?
Does the unit have any firmware updates avalible?

I didnt think RDS had the power to change your selected source from (as you said) USB or Bluetooth to FM Radio. Everything connected ok at the back?

Also, what kind of ISO connector did you need? Plenty of ISO converters avalible !

Are you sure you don't have RDS TA switched on?

As far as I know the Traffic Announcement (TA) feature allows interruption of a CD. Its probably the same for AUX/bluetooth/USB?

We discussed this channel hijacking a little while ago here

Sounds like it probably is the TA feature, I'll have a look and see if that's managed to get turned on somehow.

Cheers.
