Anyone know where i can buy a tortoise?
I have some websites offer to bring them into NZ , are there any restrictions/fee's with importing Tortoise's?

hi i am a reptile breeder ill have some tortoises available bout january or february but i do have a mate that does have a few kast year ones left if interested

Are you asking about turtles or tortoises as they are different animals.....

Turtles are easy to get, red ear sliders are the most common followed by snake neck and then reeves turtles. These are a serious investment in time and money. (They can live 20+ years i believe)

You will need

*Large tank
* Good Filter
* Water Heater
* Items for inside tank (Stones, smooth rocks and planets)
* Light and UV light to help their shells
* Food
* Water testing kit to keep water healthy
* Tank cleaning equipment. (Tank will need to be cleaned regularly)
* Vet that deal with reptiles (These are hard to come by)

I'm not wanting to put you off but want to make you aware of what you will need. They are a bit more work than a cat for example.

Apart from that they are very kool an people and other animals love watching them.

Tortoises on the other hand I wouldn't have a clue and from what I understand tortoises and usually the massive things you see in zoo's so not sure why you would want one as a pet as they would be a nightmare to look after.

They take ages ...years...and more years to grow big like that. They are easy to maintain and you don't have to chase it down the road coz you left the gate open :)

I know... and I'm aware that it is more common to find turtle, and having been to Pet Expo this year, there was a rescue organisation that advising people to consider adoption before buy from pet shop as many animals been neglected.

And having said that, I have not seen many tortoise breeder or even being sold in pet shot - they're hard to find. One thing for sure that I know of, it is almost very hard, or near impossible to import it yourself as individual.

Ah yea. Not really a dumb question.
You normally leave a comment on one of his other auctions.
In this case though he has no other listings so sorry no idea.
