It's 1500cc I would just be driving it and keep it reliable as possible

Get it serviced regularly, keep it clean, dont put our crap 91 Unleaded into it and take it for a decent run every now and then (this does not mean a race down the motorway against your mates) - take it for a long distance cruise somewhere.

"Cheap" mods that could probably be done is decent air filter, exhaust, ensure all fluids are good quality ones.... might not notice hell of a difference tho (never owned a Mazda myself so dont know how these engines react to mods of any sort).

Best mod in the world (to save petrol at least), is dont have a heavy foot.

Don't have a car stereo so loud that it will wake the dead and kill your ear drums

The only mod worth doing to a 1500 is upgrading to a 2300cc SP23. The 1500 is gutless
What sort of mods are you after?
