Hi all, yes this is another IT career question thread...
I started out doing tertiary study in IT several years ago ('08), however, I ended up making quite a hash of things and eventually exited with the Level 5 Diploma in IT. Needless to say, I'm not all that proud of that time.
I eventually managed to get a job in civil engineering, doing (mostly) draughting (CAD) work (self taught too). I have been there coming up two years now, and I am reaching the stage where I would need to do further studies in engineering to advance myself.
So I have lately been having a good long hard think about what I should do next. I have come to the conclusion that I really miss working with computers/networking equipment etc, and so I want to try and get into IT again if at all possible.
My question is then, would I have any chance of getting employed in the IT sector with the qualifications I have currently? I am willing (in fact eager) to learn and do further training.
Or would I have better luck going back to tech and completing levels 6 & 7 studies?
My interests lie primarily in sysadmin and/or networking. I am not much of a programmer, although I can do basic scripting type work.
Thank you,
Sherman
