We still have idiots letting off fireworks in our neighborhood.
They seem to still have the crazy loud ones and they are going off just a street up so it is really loud as we try and put my daughter to sleep.
Flipping hate guy fawkes. Anything we can do short of torching their house and cars to make sure all the fireworks are finished off?

Must be getting old because we noticed the same thing this year too and have commented on it a few times. It just dragged on and on, days\weeks after guy fawkes weekend there were still endless fireworks around our place. I can understand it on the 5th and maybe whichever weekend is closest to the 5th; go nuts. 2 weeks later though it really starts to wear thin...

Afaik it's legal to light fireworks all year round so I guess you'll have to put up until their supply runs out

They were/are a lot louder this year. Btw, UK has a regulation limiting maximum manufacture/design volume and imho we should adopt that also.

Wife already calls me that at christmas. Maybe I am just getting old and cranky! Didn't go on for too long tonight and was the first time in a few days so hopefully the supplies have run out now.

while they can be lit at anytime - i believe you can complain to noise control if it violates your local authorities bylaws re noise

i can imagine it might be hard to catch / stop them given the usual delay for noise control officers to come and visit the site

personally i love fireworks (being a 43 year old kid) - but i guess i am lucky as they haven't woken the kid up

Council noise control won't get involved if it's fireworks - they're an exception to the noise control bylaws. No, really.

OP, there is nothing you can do, short of going postal and burning down the building.

Um. Have you tried actually talking to them about it? You know, human to human communication? Perhaps you can get some agreement to suit everybody. Only other thought is that with the sunny weather it may be fire ban season? You could call the fire service?

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

I hope that I can help by promising that I won't be letting off any fireworks this month. I am saving them for New Year's Eve at midnight.

Often people launching fireworks are young and drunk. There have been stories of people being killed over stupid things like this.

We had a fireworks problem last year -- going off pretty much through the whole year.

The trend seems to be recurring this year too -- we have fireworks going off every weekend since Guy Fawkes so far -- although, strangely , none last night which was nice.

Not sure which neighbour it is as I'm normally in bed when they start them off.

Personally, I'm fed up with the things and every year some kid loses an eye or is disfigured. I hate banning dangerous things, but, can we at least restrict their use to a few days a year in law?

I realised how truly stupid my neighbours were when they were letting off their fireworks on that 5th in the torrential rain.

Either incredibly thick or too much money to waste.

But the weather is for certain the reason it's taken people longer to rid themselves of their stock this year. I still hear one or two every night, but nothing past 12am usually.
