I was reading the Stuff article about Paris's release from jail (yes, I was really bored) and was struck by one particular sentence.

Stuff: There were fans with outstretched hands, weeping with happiness that she was free after 22 gruelling days in detention for violating probation in her drink-driving case.

Now, what the?? Did the world stop turning when I wasn't paying attention? I'm sorry but this is on of the most trite things I've ever read from the "serious" mainstream media.

Sad, isn't it? But they are only reporting what actually happened, I was watching the news this morning and saw some footage.

Sad state of the world, when the woman who could one day be leading one of the largest chain of hotels in the world is just... well, sad. I guess the parents don't see much future for the family business?
