Ordered a skip to clear up the section. Today some jerk has thrown in a whole heap of crap in there including household rubbish. It really grinds me that people behave like that.

Unfortunately my son knocked over my security camera this morning so didn't catch the offender.

Does any one know if there is any recourse if I do happen to catch the person in the act?

It seems to be a kiwi thing to do. When I had skips the same thing happened all the time, and if my bin isn't full, someone will always put something in the top. I know who is is because I opened the bag and found addressed letters. So I put the bag back outside their house. So see if you can see anything that identifies the person.

The problem with some skip companies is that they now charge you extra if it is over a certain weight. So if someone dumps bits of concrete in it, even though it mau not be full, it maybe over a certain weight.

Go dumpster diving through it to see if they were dumb enough to leave a letter in it and then dump it back on their lawn!

See if you can find anything with an address/name on it, and contact your council - they'll usually chase up that sort of thing.

Had an idiot dump a heap of rubbish on our yard years ago during an inorganic collection week - was driving down the road and saw a van outside our place and figured it was someone going thru our trash, but no, he was emptying his van. I floored into the driveway and he jumped in his van and took off.... pity for him, he'd been driving the company van with the logo and name all over it, and all the trash was in boxes with the company name as well.
Reported it to the council and 24hrs later one of the vans (same guy maybe) turned up and took away all the trash in the boxes.

If its full and about to go, Sure they could fill it up but surely a normal person would seek permission.
Some people get this sense of entitlement. They dont see it as wrong. But they still do it at 2AM...

We had somebody dump 6 car tyres in our skip during the night, which was listed as a prohibited item for our bin, so guy who collected bin pulled them out. Not nice when I then had to find alternative methods to dispose of them that ended up costing me a few dollars each for a tyre shop to accept them.

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

They need to have lids and be locked.
If you catch someone let council know so they can charge them will illegal dumping.

True, but that doesn't mean that it isn't also a kiwi thing to do. The think is that many of the people who do dump things in peoples skips do it becuase they see it is empty and that they are under the belief that they can piggyback on it without incurring the skip owners any costs. So many don't see it as doing anything wrong, and in some cases this maybe true. I don't believe it is a prevalent in the UK.
It is perhaps a more kiwi for people to take things out of peoples skips, such as timber for firewood etc. Must say I am guilty of that but I did ask the skip owner first.

I haven't had it done in about two years now but for a while there a few idiots were putting their rubbish at the end of my driveway regularly on collection day. Problem being it was not in council bags nor was it recyclable so the trucks won't pick it up. Once I returned it to the owner's lawn across the street. Once I lurked at the bottom of my drive and told the lady (different person) to cut it out, and a couple times I just rang the council and they picked it up and likely went through it to find the owners.

I really hate it when people pull stunts like this!

That is a bit stink. Maybe the people dumping stuff don't know the charge is based on weight? They are just taking advantage.

Never needed a skip. I live out west. Every time I put something out on the road, it was gone before I got back to my front door! - Downside is they think "If this is what they are throwing out, what do they have inside!"

If he got away with dumping once, I've got good money on him coming back!

Well it is out west, I suppose people take anything that isnt nailed down, Since it was in a bin most likely just asked so they dont seem like thieves.
