Hi

My Camera is the Exilim z850 (or something) 8.1mpixils.

I bought it mostly cos the startup times and shutter speed times (including flash reload and all that) were fairly good.
(was fed up with my crap old camera)

Lately, the shutter speed has been seriously bung.

Pushing the button (after a pre-focus) will often have a delay of a few seconds. Sometimes it is ok.

Anyone heard of any similar problems with other cameras?

There doesnt seem to be any casio affiliated repair place I could find either.

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about it!
Thanks!

Are we talking about shutter speed or shutter lag? These are very different.

If shutter lag, then check that the AF assist lamp is on (if your camera has one) and the flash is not on red-eye reduction mode.

If shutter speed, then you probably have a metering problem. Do all of your pictures come out over-exposed?

sorry, yeah its definately lag. the shutter speed is fine.

Just testing it again, the pre-focus (half push of the button) doesnt actually seem to be working at all anymore! dammit it seems like its broken. A hard push gives the photo usually, but still. Not cool. Maybe its a bung button? or i got some crap in there?

It sounds like there is a fault in the mechanism which drives the lens to adjust the focus. If so, then unfortunately the only advice I can give you is to start shopping for a new camera.
