Hi Geekzoners,
Wondering if anyone would be happy to make an official information act request for me? I'd PM you the body of the request then you can just submit it through a website, no account needed or anything.
I'm usually am on Geekzone under another name but it could be a conflict of interest if I submitted the request under my name.
Happy to return the favour

If you aren't able to request it yourself due to it being a conflict of interest, surely that means you shouldn't have that information and therefore shouldn't be trying to circumvent the systems in place.

I'd strongly suggest against assisting this person and OP I'd even more strongly recommend you don't ask for it.

I don't see how you could possibly return the favour.

I also can't see how there could possibly be a conflict of interest, unless you are trying to obtain information which is commercially sensitive, in which case it would almost certainly be denied irrespective of the requester.

Perhaps he simply chose his words poorly and he actually wants to request potentially negative information from a government department of which he is employed?  If so, I can understand why he might not want his name attached to it.

OP might want to be a little more clear on why exactly he can't request it himself (perhaps PM a moderator if it's that dangerous)?  (Disclaimer: I'm not eligible to submit an OIA request as I am not NZ resident).

Sorry all for the concern caused - I'll get a friend to request it. To address your concerns, it definitely isn't regarding anything that could be 'trouble' nor dangerous nor is it commercially sensitive.

Kyanar's post is a good example of a similar situation. The information probably wouldn't even have been negative, and would have only had very limited region specific interest. The story this relates to is already public but I just wanted to know if there was any more to it.
Anyway - freitasm feel free to lock this thread as obviously I had poor judgement when considering approaching it this way.

SirHumphrey, what I meant was if someone else had information they wanted to request not attached to their name I could have done that. On one of the websites that assists people to request information you will see many people using obviously erroneous names so rather than people using a fake name they should be getting someone real to request the info.
