As per the title, I'm looking for recommendations for a reasonably quiet jug.
I'd prefer real world experience over marketing promises.
If anyone suggests a Russell Hobbs Whisper Kettle, I'll have the geekzone secret service deal to you

mattwnz: I have a Breville BKE700 which is quite quiet, and the quietest one I have owned. It has a grill thing on the bottom of it which I believe does something to the bubbles .About $170 retail, and half that when on sale. Although it has developed a problem open button where it sticks after about 2 years. Jugs don't seem to last more than 2 years I find.
Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
IlDuce: I have a Sunbeam KE9500, glass kettle. It seems quiet to me but I haven't had enough kettle experience to compare with others.
It does however have a powerful blue LED which lights up the switch, handle, and water, which looks absolutely amazing in the dark. Who cares about quiet when you have the sound to go with the light display. It's awesome!

DS248: We have a Breville BKE590 "Quite Boil Technology" kettle (photo below).
Much quieter than a 'normal' electric kettle
Stainless steel.
