Hi,

Any radio scanner enthusiasts from the Manawatu?

I have a good list of frequencies for the boys in blue for the Palmerston North, Feilding, Foxton area but I'm looking for a strong frequency for the Woodville/Pahiatua area.

I've tried 485.200 MHz which one of the Scanning Wiki pages lists as Dannevirke but that doesn't seem to be any good.

Thanks.

You'll probably be wanting an ESA band frequency (around 75Mhz) rather than relying on a portable freq.

Does this help? Perhaps 76.2125

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Thanks, yes they are possibly on ESA80 (76.2125) over there.  The particular radio I want to use doesn't cover ESA so may be out of luck.
It does cover 136-174 and 400-520 MHz however.

Cheers

No they won't. Expansion of the Whole of Government radio project was scrapped a few years ago. Expansion of the P25 network beyond Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch won't occur unless a few hundred million magically appears.

P25 is considered an insecure medium now anyway and should not be considered secure without double encryption (ie using additional encryption on top of the DES-OFB or ADP encryption that is part of the P25 standard).

I've never understood why they went to Digital in the first place, ruined a perfectly good form of entertainment.

Friend had scanner at University and it used to sit on the table as we discussed the problems of the world over a beer and a pie.

Best overheard cellphone conversation was a women telling her friend how her husband had come home early and she had to put he "friend" in the bedroom cupboard...

Listening to the police in central otago at big events like Warbirds over wanaka also fun. The number of tourists stopping in stupid places was eye opening. ie the couple who left their car in the middle of the crown range road to take some photos.

A.
