I have a remote that I hope can be programmed with macros. Unfortunately, I can't make any sense at all of the fantasy English instructions and I am feeling too old and too tired to invest a whole lot of effort in this. Can anyone else figure out what the dictionary translator is trying to say here, or does anyone have experience with similar units who can offer me some guidance? I just want to know if and how I can program the 'hot keys' with some shift key combinations.

Id say that if you want to remote control your PC from that distance a better bet would be a wireless media keyboard from Logitech - either the K400 Plus or the K830.

Prices:

Sorry, doesn't answer your question but I feel that remote will frustrate you and won't be used at all.

When it says "typewritting like mobile phones" it means like the keypad ones where you enter a letter by pressing a key multiple times. In that sense it will drive anyone crazy even more than the instructions.

I already have a wireless keyboard/mouse combo but I hate the touchpad mouse and the other remote could be integrated into my Harmony if I could get the functions I need. I will hold out and see if someone comes along who can figure out what the instructions are trying to say.

Sorry, forgot to add that Windows thinks my streaming mini-pc is a tablet and there is a handy pop-up virtual keyboard for when I need to enter text. I hardly ever do because I have optimized everything with shortcuts and the like for minimum inputs so it would be sufficient.

The way I read it is this:
The hotkeys are pre programmed as previously said.

Hotkey A can sent either Ctrl+Alt+A, Ctrl+Alt+1, Ctrl+Alt+F1

The "For example:" section says, go to the program shortcut on your desktop and set the shortcut key in it's properties.

I can't work out how to chose which shortcut to send (I wonder if you just press it the number of times).

A macro is typically a sequence of keypress actions. This remote is incapable of that by itself.

You need some third party macro software. Then you can use the remote to activate the macro.

Shift/Alt/CTRL combinations would also be useful. At the moment I'm just hoping to find out what the Chinglish instructions are trying to say.

There are better instructions on the web, but you won't find them by the name of the remote. I was able to set it up to launch some programs and program the Harmony remote to use the receiver. I'll see if I can dig up those links again..

Update: Thank you so much for the information. I don't know why, but I didn't think to do a simple search, I guess because I didn't think I would find anything. After reading your post, I decided to try anyway and an identical unit immediately popped up on Amazon. Only the name was different but it was obviously an identical clone. I searched for instructions, didn't find any, but then found exactly what I needed in the comments:

"The best part is it come with the 4 shortcut buttons that can be setup to open any windows shortcut (like your media folder, media player, etc); to setup the shortcut buttons you right click on a windows shortcut, click on properties, and click in the Shortcut Key box and enter Ctrl + Alt + A, B, C, or D."

Exactly what I wanted to know.

Yes, that was it, I think I found the same thing in Amazon review comments.

If you want to add it to a Harmony remote it's a "Chinavision CVSB-983"
