Anyone can recommend a good travel adapter? Looking to travel to Asia soon and found the belkin travel surge that fits my needs but the reviews on it are terrible, too big, heavy, and usb port won't charge an iPad .

I'm after that something that I can plug my nz devices into i.e. Laptop and it would be great if it has usb charging port then I won't need to bring my apple charger with me.

Grabbed one of these recently:
Belkin Travel Surge Protector  Currently on special by the looks of it.
Dual power outlet plus dual USB.
Downside is that it's vertical with the plug at the top, so will have issues if you try to plug it above a bench.
No other issues with it though.  When it's not on travel duty, it is used for general USB charging.

What are your actual requirements?

I take two things with me on holiday - my laptop and Anker USB charger which charges everything else I'll take with me.

One has C7 and the other a C5 plug sp for both I simply have US and EU power cables that I swap as needed, meaning I never actually need travel adapters for anything.

i was looking at the travel version of it and i like how it does everything i wanted but the reviews on it isnt very good, people commented saying its large and heavy for travel and also the usb ports wont charge an ipad which is important

range of oversea plugs so it could be useful later on if i travel to other countries
USB ports for charging so i wont have to take a USB charger with me
surge protection would be nice but not a must

When travelling I've found it very useful to just pack a 3 or 4 socket multi-plug and pick up a basic adapter for the country I'm going to. I like this option as it only requires buying one (or two) items and I've got the rest of the equipment. Better still if you have one of those multi-plug units with USB charging built in.

Cheers,
Mike
