Anyone going to a midnight screening?

Where?

What supplies ya taking to stay awake? Pure excitement?

Very cool thought, in that with the time zonage, we're one of the first in the world to see this

Thoughts on the movie once you have seen it, no spoilers though.

we tried to book nice seats this week (IMAX Auckland), but nah... next week everything is pretty much empty in cinemas, so the 23rd for us :D

watched on Saturday-Monday all other episodes and my partner (she never was into it, now SHE IS crazy about it!) now can't wait to see VII :)

Got the Star Wars digital collection on Amazon Instant Video and watched all six episodes with my daughter. To think I saw first Star Wars Episode in the cinema when it first came out in the mid to late 70s...

Haven't bought tickets yet, will just go at some convenient time when everyone's left town for holidays.

I might go Monday during the day.

I think I'll watch the original trilogy (despecialzed versions) over the weekend. I don't think I could sit through the prequel trilogy again though.

I went to Jedi with my Dad, years ago. I swear we must have shown more graphic/adult content to our kids back then than their sheltered lives today.
Still I remember reading that there is more mind screwing content in Disney stories than adult ones. Like parents usually die within the first 20 minutes or so, which when you are a child is your biggest fear.
Think Lion King, Frozen, you name it.

I've booked for the midnight screening in Palmerston North. I see the first one is completely sold out now and they've put on a second screening. Best to get there early me thinks.
Don't dress up in America seems to be the theme, with their fondness for mass shootings there.

Had intended on a mass prewatch of the originals but might scale that down to just Jedi now. I still struggle to consider those 'prequels' as being related to the original series. We're supposed to believe so many things that just weren't viable, like ships went from T2 organic curves back to square plates, whole scenes looked like PS2 video games, R2 could suddenly fly and sht, and Natalie Portman would fall in love with a vegetable. #sorrynotsorry Maybe there is solace in this:

Got tickets for Monday night, can't wait. Some early feedback from those at the premier shows people think it's on the money with one even saying it could be number 3 after empire.

Not sure if I want to read full reviews beforehand or not.

I'm not going to a midnight screening - I get little enough sleep as it is - but I will be catching it this weekend. I've been watching the Sky Star Wars pop-up channel and had forgotten (1) how low-tech the effects were in the original trilogy and (2) how much I hated some of those prequels. Episode VII doesn't have to be too good to be better than I-III, but early reviews are that it's great.

The Dolby Vision technology coupled with Dolby Atmos audio should make for a great experience.

Yeah I'm rewatching Jedi prior and I've got those Lucas hacked up re versions. In some cases I don't mind it, as I know he always said that was his vision but he didn't have the tech to create it at the time.
In other parts you realise just how muppet big sections of it are. Seriously it cuts to that little critter laughing on Jabba like 3 times; -that wouldn't be out of place in say the Labyrinth movie.

Also bam, the music, it's so highly scored. You don't often see movies like that these days.

My hopes at this stage is that there's not too much of that all out action thing, where you know somethings happening, but you don't stay on a shot long enough to be able to make sense of it.
Basically I hope it's not like Transformers/any Michael Bay epic/that stupid pod race section that was only there to upsell a PS2 game.

All accounts seem positive, in the mixture of physical props to CGI. CGI is everywhere now, and most of the time we don't actively notice it. The prequels, especially the early ones really did feel like one of those animated cut scenes between PS2 games.

Bring on tonight I guess. Lol I'm tired already.
