I have a saying I like to use, 'Dumb A$$' meaning as dumb as a mule, burro or donkey - and has nothing to do with a rude part of the anatomy.

So why is A$$ banned on geekzone? Are we anti-donkeyites?

I think you did successfully type "ass" in the URL.

Not if you put A S S on its own  but it worked as a quote from the error message. Weird or very clever - I'm undecided.

Would it maybe time for GZ to look at the rules regarding "Bad words"?

I mean sure, if its not broken, dont fix it. But the "word" posted above is hardly the worst word ever. I guess there's a line though, some people might find a specific word offensive, others not.

It's not like we need the words, but it is 2016 so maybe its time to revisit the "Bad words"?

Sometimes you just want to vent/rant, those extra words could come in handy :D

Um worst word? It's not bad at all. It's a type of animal, a horse like creature. Unless we hate donkeys there is nothing wrong with it at all.

What next? Do we ban cows, sheep, goats, etc?   I think the filter has mistaken A S S for A r s e.  Those are two totally different things.

Now if I wanted to be contentious I would use the word bollocks, which has legally been defined as not offensive, but is offensive to some people.

Thinks some more ...

If we ban using animals in speech on GZ then we need to ban,

  • Don't have a cow man - Bart simpson
  • Foxy lady, - Jimmi Hendrix,
  • Out fox someone,
  • Dumb bunny
  • Rat bag
  • Elephantine memory
  • Son of a flea ridden horse (hmm I may have made that one up)

You get my drift.

oops talking about drift

  • Mustang car
  • Mitsibushi colt ( maybe not drifting)

But then why are we allowed to talk about a Mitsubishi Pajero  ( look that up in a spanish dictionary)

Hey, not fair, I quoted your quote and couldn't post as it told me a s s is a bad word.

Slinks off to a corner to sulk with a sheepish look on his face.  ;)

I remember reading about a site that changed "ass" into "butt". It even did it if it was part of another word, resulting in a clbuttic example of things going wrong!

That was also Spark when they did a FIND/REPLACE of "Telecom" on their website and ended up with lots of "Sparkmunication"...
