Has anyone else noticed all the dairies/bakeries around the Auckland area, who are selling the Coke range of cans which all state "not for individual sale" on them?

I find this quite amusing. Are their any specific laws regarding this issue? Can coke actually enforce any legal actions on these small businesses who sell these products which can?t be sold individually?

I?m guess they just purchase them from the supermarket because they are cheaper than purchasing them directly from the suppliers, but is it legal?

I've seen many small shops having cans/candy bars/and other stuff that say "Not for Individual Sale" or "Not for Resale" on them.

And sure, some do buy from the supermarket... it's easier and convienient. Then they put on a slightly higher markup.

Not sure if any company can legally pursue them though...

Why would they bother to put "not for individual sale" on the packaging if they couldn't enforce it?

You're right in that sense...

I think its probably that a direct customer of cokes (ie the supermarkets etc) cant split those packs to sell seperatley, if they want the good deals from coke.

Dairy owner who buys from supermarket, and not from Coke, has no such worries.

I wouldn't think there is any legal issue, except a possible signed agreement between Coke and its customers - certainly nothing stopping a dairy owner reselling individual cans.
