I've just been looking at the Noel Leeming site as they have a sale on gaming headsets. Looking at the product reviews on each product page it turns out the reviews aren't actually from their customers but they are provided by "Testfreaks.com"

Most of the reviews I have seen are from people in the UK, surely they would be better to have local customers writing product reviews as no doubt some products will differ slightly than what is for sale in other countries.

This is one review I saw for a headset, " Many gamers are zealous about their gaming, and thus demand the best that budget allows. Whether it's having a purpose built gaming PC, or upgrading to the latest PC hardware for better gaming involvement. Thus many look for ways to make the most of the gaming experience." This sentence is simply a waste of time and is not a review!

This kind of broken "English" is usually posted by comment spammers that also post links to their sites. It looks like Noel Leeming is just sucking comments from some third party provider and spam is coming through... Aquick search reveals this same comment is posted in some Amazon product pages.

Thanks! I usually review products I buy form anywhere if there is an option to do so and I would say more people are starting to do this since the likes of Tripadvisor are becoming much bigger.

Once my new headset turns up and I've had a few days to get use to it I will be writing a review!

Received a good reply from Noel Leeming:

We use a review company that gives us access to expert and global aggregated reviews plus the ability to collect our own local customer reviews.

Both sources are aimed at giving our customers the most information as possible.

We aren't concerned some of their reviews are sourced globally or repeated on other sites, they are still fair reviews of product, and give customers more information rather than less.

Using aggregated reviews is common practice globally and the partner we use supplies multiple consumer electronics organisations. One of Australia's largest CE retailers also does it with a different company, Reevoo, as another example. Bazaar voice, one of the largest reviews technology providers, has also just launched an aggregated offering.

We do our best to make sure we monitor irrelevant reviews where possible and try and minimise unclear language. Yes, sometimes they aren't perfect, but that's the nature of allowing customers to have a direct voice on our website.

Using aggregated reviews shouldn't be allowed. They should only be allowed to show reviews (good AND bad) from their own customers. Aggregation of any sort will be skewed in their favour.

There will likely be slight variations of the product around the world. You also don't know how some of the reviews were sourced, and whether some people were given incentives for writing the review, good or bad. It looks like anyone can post a review too, without having to verify that you did actually buy the product, which is unlike other sites such as might ape, where you can only write reviews for purchased products, it. You also can't order the reviews, or see the bad reviews without scrolling through pages and pages. It would be better if it was like Amazons site, where you can easily view the different star reviews

Wow their reviews systems really is bad, spent 10 mins writing a review and when I clicked submit it reported an SSL error and lost my review....

Its a shame, I like to provide reviews on products as I have found others peoples reviews helpful and like to return the favour. Not cool Noel Leeming!
