I know the chances if winning are infinitesimally, but I've bought a ticket anyway.

Who's buying a ticket, and what would you do if you won the full $44 million?

I have no need of 44M but if I won it, I'd create a 40M charitable trust and give away the interest on it every year to worthy causes.

44 million would buy 1,760,000 years worth of GeekZone subscription. Assuming the price don't go up. tongue-out

I'd run for PM in 2017, on the promise I'd shout every man woman and child in NZ one free lunch at Maccas.

So by extension, population control ? :)

Whenever I buy a lotto ticket I become extremely unproductive because I sit on Trade me looking at houses.

I hope no one wins, and it is broken down into 44 prizes of 1 million. It is an obscene amount of money IMO to have as a draw. Obviously they are appealing to people's greed to sell tickets, but people have almost no chance of winning the big one based on the stats

It's not an obscene amount of money at all.

I thought we got over that "money is the root of all evil" stuff back in the '80s. Greed is good.  I see goodness everywhere these days.

I'd be ecstatic with 1% of that to be honest :)

Crash the Auckland property market.  Buy high, sell low!

The US lottery prize of 1.4 billion last year was obscene..

Try telling that to some of the people who have won big amounts, and lost it all, as well as all their friends and family. It brings out the worst in people. The fact is people have more chance of being struck by lightning.

Oh to dream.

I do not know what I'd do if I won $44million. I know what I'd do if I won $4million - that's enough to retire.

$44m. Advice (a couple of sets of advice) would be what I'd do first.

Then pay the mortgage, and the kids/family mortgages. Then a holiday for the same. A large donation or three to causes we like. The other $42ish million, no idea, but probably a fair bit of (Commercial) property.

One thing I would definitely do is retire!

And I guess a new house and car. Other than that I don't know. I've never really traveled much, so probably do that.

If the odds are low for one person getting all the numbers, they are sure as hell even lower for multiple people getting all of the same numbers.

Pay off mortgage and family mortgages.........  nice 6 month family holiday around the world.... GTR for me..... buy out the neighbors and rent cheaply to friends in need.... get stuff around house done once and for all (and properly).... buy a small boat to go fishing.... think thats about it. Could do all that with $10m let alone $44m...
