Apparently Bill's been doing his thing already:

So maybe Brexit will be really good for NZ too

Or maybe not UK prime minister Theresa May will not lift restrictions on New Zealanders rights to live and work in UK

Not sure what that has to do with a trade agreement tbh.

Being first out of the blocks with a pretty clean free trade agreement could be pretty good for us.
They make stuff we potentially want (cars, financial services, specialised manufacturing products). We make stuff they want (food, other specialised manufacturing products). Could be quite a good win-win for both sides.
They ability of NZ residents to live/move to the UK, and UK residents to live/move here, is a separate issue. It shouldn't be roled into a trade agreement.
A deal needs to standalone, but collectively they add up to a whole lot more. Reality is NZ is small and depends on the world to be cooperative, which in many places just isn't.
So yes to a trade deal, and I'm sure the focus on immigration will continue quietly and will change once it's no longer something to discuss in the 6pm news.
Politics. Humph.
