Only 12 and a half minutes this time. Bugger, I must be slowing down.

Supposedly did what she asked ..... only took me 5 minutes to supposedly Boot up (just enough time to go outside and have a quick smoke). Told her the pc had crashed and needed to boot again ...... (5 more minutes). Did what she wanted ..... pressed Windows key+R, then told her the pc had crashed again!

I then spent a few minutes blaspheming Microsoft, which said lady in question initially agreed with me, until I said "Oops, I inadvertently booted into Linux"!

The young lady then asked me if I was serious about fixing my problem, so I asked her if she got a lot of satisfaction helping people with pc's that were infected and continually crashing. She then asked me if I was Mr ********* (to which I admit, I was surprised). I told her that I died 12 months ago due to a serious virus, but, up until that time I was indeed, serious about fixing my problem. Silence again, followed shortly by "I do not think you are serious".

I then asked her if she was single and what was she was wearing - my wife bellowed out with laughter and Miss India hung up. No sense of humor these miserable scamming low-lives.

What's your best time keeping these thieves online?

I laughed out loud too after reading that second to last paragraph.

Gold!  Someone give that man a medal.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Nice.

I got 10 minutes once. I was terribly concerned and insisted on reading out all the numbers on the BSOD "in front of me". Damn tricky doing this from memory!

Last one hung up as soon as I told him the phone wasn't by the computer though... I was looking forward to a whole lot of "trips" to and from the computer. :(

This one didn't keep them on the phone for long, but it was funny:  They asked if I was the main user of the PC.  I replied with "No, my cat is" and proceeded to meow at every question they made after that.

I just have a VM locked down by Group Policies (so no run, eventvwr, task manager, dxdiag, command prompt etc) and also running through OpenDNS on another VLAN to my main network so hardly any websites they can browse to. I initially connect them and let them explore around saying I always experience this problem. I also have Task Scheduler launching Taylor Swift music videos in fullscreen VLC every few minutes and My Little Pony every 10mins. I tell them it is the virus I downloaded.

They give up once they note they literally can't do anything in the VM but that normally takes about an hour.

I was a touch naughty a couple of nights ago, and after hearing that the call was from 'Windows technical department', I said (in mono-tone) "This is Miramar (first suburb name to come to mind) Police Station, your call is being recorded for training purposes, how may we help?" ... they hung up instantly sealed

Wonder if you're missing an opportunity to upload some sort of network aware software to them? Something that connects their machines to Taylor Swift music and plays it loudly every few minutes would be quite humorous:-)
