Looking to get a trampoline for our 3 year old for Xmas, and was wondering what experiences you guys have, good/bad or otherwise, with the various brands and sizes out there? Definitely want the modern, more-safe style with the plastic ribs instead of springs, and the nets up the side.

Plan is to buy now to hopefully save a few dollars on the off-season and store until December.

The SpringFree range are excellent, but costly. However if its going to be used for the next 10-15 years it may well be justifiable.

We got the large oval, and with 2 kids I wouldn't want anything smaller.

We've got a Jumpflex Classic 120 we bought for Christmas last year. It's very well made, easy to put up and works well. It uses springs rather than rods but I couldn't justify the expense of a springfree trampoline.

Thumbs up for this one. Many that have nets have the nets secured outside the springs, which leads to kids putting their feet through and generally having an unpleasant time.
FWIW, I'm yet to find one that has padding that covers the springs that doesn't perish from the UV after a year or so in the NZ sun, but if the nets secure where the mat meets the springs rather than at where the springs meet the frame, it's pretty irrelevant.

Kudos on getting a trampoline for the kid though - our one was far and away the best prezzy we've got them. Years of usage, and great for their coordination and confidence. I'll occasionally head outside from the home office and leap around for a few minutes to clear the cobwebs as well.

our kids hate the springless ones as they lack...bounce.

We got a jumpflex too, is great but the pads etc wear out after a couple of years. Sun damage mostly.

Better than springless too. More bounce.

We have the spring ones with net inside the springs. Very pleased for the price.

I would suggest making sure it is galvanized and is durable to be left outside for years. Some are only electroplated and the warranty may exclude being left outside and rusting. I would read the fine print.

Jump flex. Had ours almost 3 years, the company backs up their product. We had a problem with our net, and without any questioning they replaced it immediately. The kids and I love it, we also have the sprinkler attachment which is great in the summer.

Don't forget the immovable object attachment that's handy in winter or other windy times.

Another +1 for Jumpflex. We got the Classic 120 in November last year and it was a piece of cake to put up even doing it on my own. Haven't had any issues so far but reading others experiences with their after-sales support it gives me confidence they will back their product. The kids absolutely love it and the adults do too!

Got one for my sons birthday, if you get one be sure to get the shade sale for it as well

-1 (minus 1) for a Springfree.. They are great until about 3 years.. then NZ's UV Sunlight (Im assuming) start to make the Rods delaminate. (Well this was my experience.. the outside shell crumbles to nothing, exposing the inner core)
