Yet another NZH classic.... "Auckland has been told to prepare for 26 hours of intense rain between now and tomorrow morning."

Umm... ok... we now on 48hr days or something ? :D

Uh… today + tomorrow = 48 hours, so 26 / 48 would be just over half of those two days would be intense rain.

The secondary one is relying on the Metservice for a weather forecast. WeatherWatch prediction for that time interval, twenty-something mm of rain spread over the day and night, so an average rainy day. Actual rainfall so far, 13mm spread over the day and part of the night.

Anyone else remember the Swatch "Beat" (Internet Time)? I doubt this will catch on either.

I don't know when the article was published, but let's say it was at 21:00 yesterday. "Between now and tomorrow morning" would therefore encompass the 15 hours between 21:00 on Sunday and 12:00 on Monday. There's no way you can get 26 hours in there.

I don't know when the article was published, but let's say it was at 21:00 yesterday. "Between now and tomorrow morning" would therefore encompass the 15 hours between 21:00 on Sunday and 12:00 on Monday. There's no way you can get 26 hours in there.

Or if it was published at say 6 or 7 am between 'now' and 8 or 9 am tomorrow morning would be ... 26 hours
